An existing two-storey building was transformed to accommodate a larger commercial space for Tesco, with flats built above. The project involved removing the existing structure housing five smaller shops, to create the expanded area for the new retail space while preserving the existing listed façade. Situated on The Green at Twickenham, the site posed many logistical and restrictive challenges. A new floor and mansard roof were added, with two flats retained for storage by Tesco, necessitating floor upgrades to support the loading weight, plus the installation of a goods lift. The project also included the installation of a large metal fire escape and new rear access for residents. Despite the restrictions on site due to the lack of outside space, and its proximity to another residential building, we successfully completed and handed over this project.
