The project involved removing the existing structure, housing five smaller shops, to create the expanded area for the new retail space while preserving the existing listed façade.
A new floor and mansard roof were added, with two flats retained for storage by Tesco, necessitating floor upgrades to support the loading weight, plus the installation of a goods lift. The project also included the installation of a large metal fire escape and new rear access for residents.
