The refurbishment of this Grade II listed farmhouse unfolded unexpectedly when it was discovered that the foundations required more extensive underpinning for the renovation and extension plans. The underpinning process, collaborating with structural engineers, became a monumental task and also allowed for the removal of the existing chimney breast, facilitating room reconfiguration for optimal external views. Internally, extensive propping and restructuring were undertaken, including the restoration of high-quality oak features throughout. Locally reclaimed oak was utilised for the new structural components, this was an important part of our brief to work sustainably while also contributing to the high quality finish of this project.
